Flow Barry is an ordinary French guy with an extraordinary journey. He grew up on the precarious outskirts of Paris before moving to Los Angeles in 2011.

Rather then living the American Dream he imagined, Flow turned to alcohol to ignore his hardships and continue to believe in his dreams until his addiction finally took a hold of him and his family.  His daughter was only three months old when he was admitted in a rehabilitation center.  With time on his hands and the support he needed, he started doodling as a way to deal with his strong destructive feelings. Art became his therapy. His doodling became drawings and his drawings, paintings.

Flow chooses Art over Alcohol and has been in recovery for the past two years.

Acrylic on collage of 4 canvas 40"x40"

This work represents a new life with new opportunities. When I decided to commit to sobriety again, I examined some of the work I had done during my relapse.  It was colorful, chaotic, dark, messy and all over the place, but it was a raw expression of my feelings.  I cannot erase that part of my life. It’s part of me and always will be.  So I decided to assemble four different artworks and seal that moment in time by uniting them and painting Roses over my darkness.

Collage and Acrylic Marker on Canvas 18”x24”

This is where I have been, and where I am now. The actual map belonged to my grandfather when he began to drive in Paris.

I grew up in the outskirt districts of Paris, on the east side in the 9.3. The heart on the painting is where I met my wife. I followed her to LA. It’s my home now, but Paris will always be part of my landscape. La banlieue coule dans mes veines.
